Grand Designs
Overview
With our extensive experience of working with heritage assets and Conservation Areas, as well as our broad knowledge of Lewes and the South Downs National Park, ECE Planning are proud to announce that permission has been secured on Appeal for a landmark contemporary house in Lewes, East Sussex. This incredible house will be shown on popular television show, Grand Designs on 21st October 2015 at 9pm.
Working with award winning architects Sandy Rendel, ECE Planning successfully demonstrated that the exceptional architectural quality of the house and, the use of high quality and appropriate materials, ensured that the proposals were worthy of their location within the Conservation Area and setting.
Utilising a bespoke ‘Cor Ten Steel Rainscreen’ Cladding system, the house introduces a modern, fresh design to the Conservation Area. With the sites industrial heritage clearly in the past, this fresh design still manages to remain robust enough to stand out in an area of big landscapes.
When it came to making a final decision on the appeal, the Planning Inspector was in favour of ECE Planning’s justification for the scheme purely due to the high quality architectural approach, as well as the appropriate use of contemporary materials.
The Inspector was therefore convinced that the house was ‘out of the ordinary’ and of ‘surpassing quality’.
