Overview
ECE Planning Director Adam King secured planning permission for the re-use of the former Freeman Hardy Willis Shoe Depository located in the heart of Leicester City Centre.
Through the imaginative remodelling of the external appearance of the run-down vacant building, Adam, working with ECE Architecture, was able to provide a mixed-use development of 454 student rooms, a student common room, reception area and refectory to accommodate Leicester’s expanding student population. In addition to the student accommodation, the proposals provided retail and commercial uses across the lower floors.
With three key public street frontages the proposals, in combination with other prominent regeneration projects, would contribute signficantly to the regeneration of Leicester City Centre.
Utilising architectural and urban design skills, ECE were able to propose the regeneration of existing site through the imaginative re-use of the original building through enhanced public realm improvements and the over cladding of the existing building…
