On behalf of our client, Saltdean United Football Club, we are delighted to confirm that in a unanimous decision this week, Brighton & Hove Planning Committee resolved to grant planning permission for the provision of a new 3G artificial football pitch, new stand and clubhouse.

Saltdean United FC has a strong and loyal membership of some 200 youth players, 80 adult players and over 400 non-playing adult members, who in most cases live in or close to Saltdean. Over the years, the Club has supported over 800 players. This passion is reflected in the Club’s growing status within the Football leagues.

With this success has come new challenges and in order to meet these the Club needed to modernise the scope, design and configuration of its facilities, allowing it to better meet the needs of the community, encouraging people of all ages and genders into sport and into the club, ensuring that it remains financially viable and sustainable for the long term.

Situated next to the South Downs National Park, the proposed development required a sensitive design response whilst also delivering a sustainable form of development including a net gain to biodiversity on site.

Rod Flavell, Club President said:

‘Working with ECE’s planning professionals has been a pleasure.

A process as complex as Saltdean UTD’s application to redevelop its facilities for our communities future generations of adults and Children to enjoy in an area of outstanding natural Beauty was always going to take a sensitive touch to balance the needs of all the stakeholders.

We are delighted to say the ECE team dealt with the challenges with great patience, persistence and professionalism.

Its been a long but ultimately fruitful journey to this point and we are under no illusions that there are many more challenges to come as we move to the development phase but with ECE’s continued support we believe that the club will deliver a legacy for future generations to enjoy.’
