ECE Charity Cricket Event 2022

Last week ECE hosted a Charity Cricket Event for the third time at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove, raising over £5700 for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. Fifteen teams entered the tournament and everyone played with great spirit, regardless of cricketing ability (although obviously, this was of an incredibly high standard!)

Team ECE were again joined by Nick (who previously joined our event in 2019), who is under the care of Chestnut Tree House. Nick thoroughly enjoyed spectating and participating in the cricket games throughout the day. It was wonderful to have his input and expertise on the pitch but sadly it wasn’t enough to see us through to the semi-finals!

Our congratulations go to Vistry Partnerships who snatched victory from Carpenter Box in the final to take first place! We would also like to give a special mention to our other semi-finalists, Michael Jones and Vulcan Ellis.

Matt Turner, Patron of Chestnut Tree House, said a few words to our group about the amazing work Chestnut Tree House do and the difference the money raised through this event will make. Then Stuart Eatock, Managing Director of ECE, presented prizes to our deserving tournament winners. A charity raffle followed with some fantastic prizes including; a week’s holiday to Cornwall for 6 people, tickets to the cricket, framed photos, and a signed shirt kindly donated by Sussex Cricket.

With perfect weather, great company, and a superb venue the event was a great success. ECE would like to thank all of those involved in organising the day, in particular all of the fantastic teams that participated and Sussex County Cricket Club for their continued hospitality and support. A huge thank you also goes out to Alison Taylor at Chestnut Tree House, for all of her help in the run-up to and on the day.

“Thanks to everyone at ECE for putting on such a great and enjoyable event. Fantastic to hear how much was raised for Chestnut Tree House. We certainly look forward to next year’s event!”
